Colpa (Clay lick) Chuncho

An exclusive program that will give you the opportunity to visit the largest macaw clay lick in the world in a single day.

Our departure is at 3:00 am, we pick you up and drive you along the interoceanic highway on a journey of approximately 2 hours (48 km) paved road and (18 km) through the jungle road until Tambopata River, where our boat with outboard motor will be waiting for you to take you for an hour and a half upstream to the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve.

La “Collpa Chuncho” it is a natural clay lick formation, where hundreds of parrots and macaws gather to eat clay as part of their daily diet supplement and they on the side of the Tambopata River. On the way to the clay lick, you will have an incredible opportunity to see mammals such as capybaras (ronsocos), tapirs, deer and maybe the largest South American feline, the jaguar; some of our clients have witnessed beautiful encounters with this endangered feline.

At 10:30 am we will begin our return trip, arriving at the Lodge at approximately 12:00 pm.
